NH Lawmaker Wants to Force Prisoners to Eat Their Veggies!

A New Hampshire state legislator recently proposed a  bill  that involves forcing N.H. state prisoners onto strictly vegetarian diets except for holidays and Sunday’s.  “Meat only on holidays,” says the N.H. State Rep.  He claims this bill would end up saving NH taxpayers over $7 million annually.  However,  according to estimates by legislative staff, requiring state prisoners to become Vegan could actually increase food costs by an average  of $700,000 per year over the next four years for the Department of Corrections if passed.  The N.H. lawmaker argues that these are just “numbers.”

Is it “right” to make all state prisoners vegetarians as a cost-cutting mechanism?    Take our poll and let us know what you think about this bill!
